Ian Pomerantz

Bass-Baritone

Ian Pomerantz, is an American-Portuguese bass-baritone whose work spans baroque music, art song, and Jewish repertoire. He has appeared as a soloist at the Royal Concertgebouw, the National Archives Concert Series in Paris, and with ensembles and concert series across Europe and North America. Recent and upcoming engagements include Lidarti’s Esther, Handel’s Messiah, Charpentier’s Messe de Minuit, appearances at Paris’ Salle Cortot, Schubert’s Winterreise, and new works engaging with Jewish history and musical memory. His recordings include Myths Contested and Art Songs of the Jewish Diaspora, with an album devoted to the songs of Harriet Abrams forthcoming.

Alongside his performing career, Ian is a doctoral researcher at INALCO in Paris, where he studies contemporary Sephardic musical culture in Iberia. His work is grounded in historically informed performance and a particular commitment to recovering overlooked repertoire and bringing historical traditions into vivid contemporary life.
