OWEN DAVITT

COMPOSER & RECORDER

Owen Davitt has toured extensively as a woodwind doubler, performing at venues such as Carnegie Hall, Madison Square Garden, NJPAC, and in The People’s Republic of China. A composer since the age of 13 Owen has written for orchestra and chamber ensembles. His double reed ensemble music has been premiered by the renowned Double Entendre ensemble in Brooklyn, NY, and his “Tone Concept 40” was premiered by the Youth Recorder Orchestra of Great Britain. Owen is Director of Bands for a Northern New Jersey school district where he teaches grades 4-8 instrumental band and music composition, is Minister of Music and Organist at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Paramus, freelances, and teaches woodwinds privately. Owen earned a BA in music education at Montclair State University with a concentration in oboe/English horn, and is working on a Master’s degree in educational leadership.
